Company History - from an old photographic album (No.2)
Soon after Tomizo Kohara, the founder, finished elementary school in 1919 he got his first job with
Kohara Ironworks in the City of Kawaguchi. He was able to enter the ironworks as his father made
all arrangements. His father thought that his son should acquire some kind of skill since he sensed that
the age of metalworking and machine tool making was just around the corner.
Tomizo learned a lot through the experience there. He gleaned the expertise from his master and his
senior pupils. And in 1935 he managed to start his company, Kohara Haguruma Kosho (gear workshop)
at Nishikicho, Kawaguchi. His workshop built in a rented space of Oguma Foundry was very small. It was
as small as fifty square meters.
He worked very hard there and laid the foundation of the Kohara Gear today.
